DESCRIPTION:Science Saturday is coming back to the library this March! \nWHAT IS THIS PROGRAM ABOUT?\nJoin us on Saturday\, March 21\, 2026 from 1-3pm when our favourite science fan Adrian brings his fascinating interactive afternoon of science experiments back to the library.  Kids aged 10 and up will enjoy this hands-on program where they’ll form a hypothesis and test it using skills they’ll learn during this session. Best of all\, it’s going to be fun and very interactive! \nWHAT DO PARENTS NEED TO KNOW?\nParents do not have to stay in the library during this event. Feel free to drop your kids off\, but please make sure they have your contact information in case we need to get in touch before the event is over. Send along a refillable water bottle with your child\, too–we have a water bottle refilling station at the front doors. \nWHY STEM PROGRAMMING AT THE LIBRARY?\nWe know how important STEM programming is to kids. STEM programs expose youth to Science\, Technology\, Engineering and Math skills they may not get in the classroom and it allows all kids to participate in creative and challenging events outside of the school system. DESCRIPTION:Join the Carleton Place Public Library to learn about the Our Stories Project\, a new mini documentary contest that brings local teens and seniors together through storytelling. \nIn this unique initiative\, teen participants\, working in teams of one to four\, will create short documentaries featuring older adults in the Carleton Place community. The project aims to preserve personal histories\, build intergenerational connections\, and celebrate the voices and experiences of local residents. \nAt this information session\, attendees will learn how the project works\, what participation involves\, key dates\, and how teams and senior participants will be matched. Teen team registration will open immediately after the session at 7 p.m. Space is limited\, and only one member of each team is required to complete the registration process. \nThe project will run throughout the summer and includes hands-on workshops and guidance from professionals in video production\, storytelling\, and editing. Final films will be submitted at the end of the summer and celebrated at a fall awards event\, with prizes awarded to selected teams. \nSeniors interested in being featured in a documentary are also encouraged to participate and can register anytime by emailing jhawkins@carletonplace.ca. \nInterested in attending the information session?
