The Our Stories Project Info Session

Join the Carleton Place Public Library to learn about the Our Stories Project, a new mini documentary contest that brings local teens and seniors together through storytelling.
In this unique initiative, teen participants, working in teams of one to four, will create short documentaries featuring older adults in the Carleton Place community. The project aims to preserve personal histories, build intergenerational connections, and celebrate the voices and experiences of local residents.
At this information session, attendees will learn how the project works, what participation involves, key dates, and how teams and senior participants will be matched.ย Teen team registration will open immediately after the session at 7 p.m. Space is limited, and only one member of each team is required to complete the registration process.
The project will run throughout the summer and includes hands-on workshops and guidance from professionals in video production, storytelling, and editing. Final films will be submitted at the end of the summer and celebrated at a fall awards event, with prizes awarded to selected teams.
Seniors interested in being featured in a documentary are also encouraged to participate and can register anytime by emailing jhawkins@carletonplace.ca.
